|Wendy Thomson, Project Director
Wendy taught and lead languages first in secondary and then primary schools. She has been German curriculum specialist at pre-service teacher education and was a regional adviser in languages for seven years.
Wendy initially developed the (now named TPLT) programme with Silvia Insley in 2005. Since then she has lead an expanding team that has developed the programme to what it is today.
Wendy has a Master of Arts in German. She has passed international proficiency tests in Chinese (HSK), French (DELF) and Spanish (DELE). Her current focus in language learning is to make further progress in Chinese.
|Nathalie Bourneville, National Co-ordinator
Nathalie has taught learners from new entrant level to tertiary. She has been a primary classroom teacher as well as physical education specialist teacher and has taught languages at all levels including being the French specialist for teacher pre-service education. Nathalie completed TPDL (former name for TPLT) in 2006 and began working with the team in 2007.
Nathalie has a degree is Sports and Recreation from France. She has passed internationally recognised proficiency tests in Chinese (HSK), German (Goethe), Spanish (DELE) and is currently learning te reo Maori, Korean and Chinese.
|Janelle Wood, Language Study Coordinator
Janelle taught German and Japanese to Year 7 and 8 students for eight years. She completed TPDL herself in 2010 and has been working as an In-School Support Facilitator since 2011. Janelle coordinates the language study and language proficiency test preparation for TPLT. Janelle has a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese and German and has passed internationally recognised proficiency tests in Chinese (HSK), German (Goethe), Japanese (JLPT), Spanish (DELE) and is learning Korean.
|Neena Raniga, Programme Administrator
Neena Raniga has been part of the team since 2007.
Her mother tongue is Gujarati and she also speaks Hindi.
|Dr Rosemary Erlam, Academic Consultant
Rosemary is primary school trained and has taught French in a variety of contexts. Her PhD, which compared the effectiveness of different instructional methods, was conducted in secondary school French classrooms in New Zealand. Rosemary has worked with the TPLT team since 2010.
|Dr Constanza Tolosa, Academic Course Coordinator
Constanza taught English and Spanish as foreign languages and in bilingual settings for many years before becoming an academic in New Zealand. She is now a language teacher educator working in pre-service and in-service teacher education at the Faculty of Education, The University of Auckland. Through her research, Constanza aims to understand how teachers of languages make curricular decisions and how those decisions impact student learning.
|Sheena von Bassewitz, In-School Support Facilitator
Sheena has taught German, French, Japanese, Spanish and other subjects in secondary schools for many years. She has been an In-School Support Facilitator with TPLT since 2009. Sheena has a BA Hons in German and has passed international proficiency tests in French (DELF), Spanish (DELE) and Chinese (HSK). She continues to learn, with Chinese and te reo Maori particular foci this year.
|Lata Langi, In-School Support Facilitator
Lata taught Geography for many years in secondary schools and teachers' college in Tonga and now teaches Tongan language at Southern Cross Campus College. Lata completed TPDL in 2011 and joined the team in 2013.
|Linton Rathgen, In-School Support Facilitator
Linton is primary trained and has taught both at primary and at intermediate schools. For five years, Linton was a dedicated language specialist at a large intermediate school, teaching Spanish, Chinese and Japanese. He completed the TPDL programme in 2012. Linton speaks Swahili and has also learnt some Korean, Cantonese, French, German and te reo Maori.
|Gordon Gallop, In-School Support Facilitator
Gordon Gallop teaches French, Spanish, Mandarin and Te Reo Maori at secondary school level. Gordon completed TPDL in 2012 in French and again in 2013 in Samoan. Gordon joined the TPDL team in 2014. He is also an Anglican priest at St Georges Anglican Church in Papatoetoe. Gordon has a BA/BED (in French, Spanish & Education) and has passed internationally recognised proficiency tests in DELF, DELE, Goethe and HSK.
|Dr Ai-Hsin Ho, In-School Support Facilitator
Ai-Hsin Ho is currently the Head of Languages Faculty, overseeing the teaching and learning of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French and Spanish at Westlake Boys High School. Ai-Hsin completed TPDL herself in 2015 and now works as part of the TPLT team of In-School Support Facilitators.
|Jennifer Booth, In-School Support Facilitator
Jennifer has many years’ experience teaching te reo Māori, French, German, Mandarin and ESOL at primary school level. She completed TPDL in 2006, teaching French, and in 2016, teaching Chinese.
Jenny has a Bachelor of Arts (major in Māori and minor in Linguistics and English Language Teaching) and a Graduate Diploma in Arts and Chinese. Jenny has passed language proficiency tests in Chinese (HSK), German (Goethe) and French (DELF).
|Juliet Kennedy, In-School Support Facilitator
Juliet teaches French, German, Mandarin, and English Language at secondary school level. She has a BA Honours in French and Music, an MA in Applied Linguistics and is currently working on her PhD in Applied Linguistics. Juliet completed TPDL in 2013 and joined the TPDL team in 2014.
